Showdown at Noon

My only knowledge of New York's neighborhoods and whatnot is based on the "Spider-Man 2" video game. I know that these different neighborhoods exist, but not where they exist (other than New York). As such, Jameson wanting Peter to meet him in Midtown at noon to take pictures of a showdown atop the Chrysler Building, also at noon, might be a doable endeavor. I have no idea if it is or not, though.

I'm sure we're supposed to be feeling a sense of triumph over Peter's return, but I'm not feeling it. I feel only ennui.

Can JJJ do that? Isn't Peter freelance? Unless he's just bossing him around as another person as opposed to an employee.

Peter is a basically a staff photographer. Except he won't do the physical, which means he has to remain a freelance photographer while still retaining most, if not all, of the responsibilities of a staff photographer.

Yeah, well, if this strip had any grounding in reality whatsoever, Peter wouldn't be so tied to the Bugle. He'd be flogging his work to the highest bidder and telling JJJ to go fly a kite. In this strip's reality, The Bugle is the only possible outlet for Peter's photos, so he's stuck.

I like how Peter hangs up his Spidey-Suit in the closet. You'd think he might have a secret compartment for his Spidey-Stuff just in case, y'know, his apartment gets broken into and some crackhead discovers the secret identity thing.

That's happened before in a past storyline with some rat looking goon and the Frog Man (not the one from the comics, but someone who aped the name).

I think what happened was that Mary Jane was mugged by them, her address info. was with her stuff, and they break into the apt.

I'd think the primo place to get photos of a battle atop the Chrysler Building would be the top of a specific nearby building. Maybe even the Empire State, because it's somewhat close and equally tall. I'd think with a decent lens you could get good shots from there, as opposed to on the freaking ground looking up. But what do I know? I'm not Stan Lee.

Depending on where the Peter Parker/Mary Jane Apartment of Tedious Love is, going to midtown Manhattan should not be too big of a deal, assuming he has an hour or two to spare. Half hour, if he can catch an express subway.

Mary Jane is an artist, so I'm assuming she would want to live in SoHo or Chinatown. (The Chinatown in Manhattan, that is.) If so, that would DEFINITELY be an easy thing to do. (I spent about 4 days in Manhattan once, so, I'm an "expert"!!)

Now I'm getting weird flashbacks of those Daily Bugle picture taking missions from the Spider-Man 2 game. And not the starter ones...no, the crazy ones that have you going all over the place in such a tight amount of time.

(And if we're going for a triumphant tone in the strip, Pete has to pimp-kiss Mary Jane before going out the window)
