I've no problem with the actions of Drago (apparently he has technical aptitude), but the guard has got to be the most idiotic guard in the history of this strip. As you can clearly see, the cell's door is a bunch of bars. This means that it keeps the inmates in, but lets you see inside the cell as well. You should be able to see what's going on in there without opening the door. Yet this is what the guard does, thereby freeing Drago and causing the guard to have a tremendous seizure which knocks off his hat.
I can only think that Drago was doing something in his cell, or faking something, that enabled him to hide his wings and cause some alarm in the guard. After all, he couldn't have put on the wings in the time it took the guard to open the door. Maybe he pretended to hang himself or something.

I like how the Vulture is commenting on the guard's ineptitude. It seems like bravado, but he's honestly shocked at the guard's poor observation skills.
Okay, again... any jurisdiction that's had extensive experience with super-villains should have custom-built prison facilities to house them. They should NOT be held in plain old jail cells. They should NOT be guarded by a single solitary no-necked officer. They should NOT be allowed access to magnetic materials or allowed to build such devices. And their belongings and mail should be carefully searched so that they don't gain possession of their goddamn super-suits while in custody!
This is just absolutely wretched.
I'm willing to give the strip a pass on Drago being in a normal prison and being able to get his wings smuggled in. It's just a convention of the superhero genre. At least half of the Toomes stories start off almost exactly the same way, only he manages to rebuilt them from scratch in jail a lot of those times. And since they're just normal humans without their suits, there's no real need to section them off, really.
My problem is that Drago is shouting the fact that he's working on the wings. It's not a secret if you're shouting it, Blackie!
So Drago's escaped to ... the corridor. Aren't there more locked doors to get through? Is he just going to fly back and forth and back and forth until another no-neck opens the next door, and so on?
dlauthor: Well, you see, this is the Andy of Mayberry State Pen. The corridor leads directly to the unlocked front door. No-Neck is the only guard in the joint. He's more physically formidable than Barney Fife, but I give Barney the edge on brains.
Dragon shouldn't talk out loud to himself so much. The guard must have heard him. Speaking of the guard. Worst. Guard. Ever.
